Raymond van Barneveld missed out in a place in the final of the Grand Slam of Darts after a 16-12 defeat at the hands of his old rival Phil Taylor on Sunday afternoon.
The 2012 champion, who defeated James Wade and Mark Webster in the previous knockout rounds went down after a successful tournament, which saw him return to the world’s top 16.

RAYMOND VAN BARNEVELD has issued an apology following his defeat to Mervyn King at the partypoker.com World Grand Prix on Thursday night.
The Dutch star suffered a 3-1 loss to King, but was visibly showing the pain of a back problem during the game’s later stages – despite winning the third set to threaten a similar comeback to the one he produced in his first round defeat of Dave Chisnall.
However, van Barneveld missed 30 starting doubles in the fourth set – including being whitewashed in the opening leg – as King eased into the quarter-finals at Dublin’s Citywest Hotel. more
