Team Netherlands sealed their place at the top of Group E and set up a last 16 clash with Finland with ease but van Gerwen admitted that the pair are still finding their feet.
He said: “We missed a few doubles but our scoring was fairly solid.
“There is definitely room for improvement but we know what we need to do.
“It felt better than the first game so that is encouraging and I think we will be even better tonight.
“It is different to play as part of a team but we are quickly getting used to it and I’m sure we can find our best form as the tournament goes on.
van Gerwen missed double seven for a 122 finish in the opening leg but ‘Barney’ mopped up the remainder before pegging double eight to double the Dutchmen’s lead.
And van Barneveld found the same bed to increase his team’s advantage to three legs.
‘Mighty Mike’ fired in a maximum in the fourth leg, which Netherlands won when van Gerwen pinned double one.
‘Barney’ bedded double nine to complete a comfortable victory.
Netherlands will face Finland on Saturday evening for a place in the quarter-finals.
